TBCG was proud to co-host the Sydney Patient Education and Support Forum in collaboration with the NSW Neuro-oncology Group and Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA).
The morning session covered the 3 treatment modalities; neurosurgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, followed by a panel discussion consisting of the morning’s speakers and additional expert clinicians. This generated much discussion and engagement with those in attendance. The morning session concluded with a presentation on rehabilitation services which covered the day-to-day mobility considerations when diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Conversations continued into lunch and the afternoon session covered a wide range of topics such as the role of the care co-ordinator, the clinical trials landscape in Australia, psycho-oncology and support services at the Cancer Council.
Overall, it was an informative and engaging day for all.
Our thanks to all our guest speakers who provided their time and shared their expertise, and to all attendees. There was a real sense of collegiality and we hope to bring more of these events to the community, for the benefit of patients and carers.
